Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) inducted the first Kawasaki RC-2 Electronic Intelligence (ELINT)/ Communication Intelligence (COMINT) aircraft in fleet.
Based on the Kawasaki C-2 transport aircraft, the RC-2 has undergone various structural modifications to house electronic sensors like a enlarged nose cone, fairings on tail, top and sides of fuselage.
The aircraft has been undergoing testing since 2018, based from the Iruma Air Force base.
